How to Fight Off Illness Without Traditional Medicine
By Genevieve Cunningham
Staying healthy is a big deal. When we spend too much time sick, it really weighs on both our mental and physical well-being. But besides medication, how do we accomplish this task? We don’t want to be sick all of the time, but we don’t want to constantly take medicine either. Take a look at these ways in which you can boost your body’s ability to stay healthy without having to resort to medication or a trip to the doctor.
Eat an Immune Boosting Diet
Your diet is everything. You’ve probably heard the old saying “you are what you eat.” Well, it’s true! If you want to fight off illness, your diet should be balanced with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein. Junk food, fried foods, and other unhealthy choices simply won't cut it. You can also include natural germ fighters such as garlic, onion, and peppers to improve your chances of staying healthy and keeping those pesky germs away.
Take Vitamins Daily
While your diet is king, vitamins can certainly help. Think of them as a supplement to better health. They can't take the place of your diet, but they can give you a significant boost. Taking a good multivitamin can help you get the nutrients that you missed in your diet. And even if you do your best to eat healthy, missing a few essentials is bound to happen. Find a good vitamin at your local grocery store, and add it to your morning routine to keep your healthy and strong.
Get Some Movement (Especially Exercise)
A person who exercises is bound to be healthier than someone who does not. Exercise keeps us flexible, helps reduce aches and pains, improves body functions, and boosts your overall health. When it comes to fighting off illness, a healthy body has a much easier time killing off germs than a body that is in poor health. It doesn’t take much to grab this benefit. Simple walking, jogging, swimming … whatever works for you … is enough to bring about a healthier body and less illness.
No one likes to be sick. It’s frustrating and miserable and it gets in the way of life. Instead of waiting for the illness to arrive, be proactive! Use these tips to fight off illness before it attacks, and keep yourself feeling a little better every day of your life.
