Why the Core is the Most Important Part of the Body
It is almost swimsuit season which might have you thinking about your midsection. A strong core certainly looks good in a swimsuit, but there are some other reasons why you might want to keep your middle healthy and strong. It provides so much to your body, you might not even realize it! Check out these reasons why your core is one of the most important parts of your whole body.
It Gives Your Body Strength
Your core is what provides your body with the most strength. When your core is strong, it keeps your entire body stronger as well. Since your core is at the center of your body, it takes the load for many activities that you perform. To add strength to your core, try workouts that are ab-centric. Crunches, sit-ups, leg lifts, and similar exercises can help you keep your center as strong as possible.
It Promotes Overall Well Being
Since your core provides your body with so much of its strength, it also leads the body in its general direction. For example: have you ever seen a person with a fit core and excess fat everywhere else? Probably not. In fact, that’s even hard to picture at all. That’s because where the core goes, the body tends to follows. Keep your core healthy and strong, and your body will likely follow suit.
It Holds You Up
How can we forget that our core literally keeps us standing. Without a strong core, our bodies have a harder time staying upright. When this happens, your lower back tends to attempt to pick up the slack. This often results in pain and injury to the back. Keeping your core strong can keep you upright without putting any strain on the back.
It Promotes Mental Health
This isn’t always true, but the general idea most certainly is. When you feel good about your body, you tend to feel better about yourself overall. And, like previously mentioned, when you have a good core, you have a higher chance of having a better body overall. Keeping yourself strong and healthy promotes physical health and mental health all in one fell swoop.
Your core is important to so many functions in the body. Keep it healthy by exercising it and making it as strong as possible. This one step will have you in a healthier state of mind and body for years to come.
