Foods That Give a Blast of Energy

Sometimes, when it comes to working out and being healthy, it’s not that we don’t want to do it, but after a long day, we simply don’t have the energy! Our lives are so full and busy, our energy is often zapped by the time we have any time to spend on ourselves. If you’re drained by the end of the day, try these energy boosting foods to give you a little pick me up.

Carbs. Carbohydrates seem to take a very bad rap in today’s world. We’re often told to stay far away from them in order to stay trim or lose weight. Carbs, however, are a great source of energy. Your body needs these foods to convert into energy for your body. They are especially good for you before a workout, as they’ll give you a quick burst to complete your routine.

Honey. This natural sweetener gives you quite the kick. It will give you a boost before a workout, but it will also help to replenish the muscles after you’re finished working out. So this one sweet treat helps on both ends. It can eaten in multiple ways, such as being added to lots of different foods, and can even be taken by the spoonful.

Bananas. Bananas are high in potassium and also natural sugars. These sugars are taken into the body and then converted into energy. Eating a banana before a workout will give you a little boost before you exercise, or eating it post workout will provide a little pick me up for your mind as well as your muscles.

Spinach. Popeye wasn’t kidding when he said that spinach makes you strong. Spinach is stocked full of iron, which the body uses as an energy source. Adding spinach is easier than you think as well. You don’t have to open a can of the soggy spinach you’re probably used to. Instead, add fresh spinach to a salad for a bit of flavor and a big boost of energy.

Almonds. This is a fantastic little snack to keep handy. They are a great source of protein, but they also help to clear the body of toxins. Keeping the body clean and toxin free allows for more energy flow, so you’ll feel more energetic and refreshed.

Eggs. Remember when Rocky drank raw eggs? You might not want to do that, but the effect of eating eggs is a blast of protein and energy. Try eating or adding eggs to your breakfast for a little blast of energy to start your day.

Sometimes getting enough energy is all about what you put into your mouth.  After all, food is literally fuel for your body. Try these energy producing foods to get you through the day.
