Chiropractic Care for Morning Sickness and Other Tips to Manage Prenatal Nausea
Some women are blessed to never have a day of morning sickness, while others have morning sickness all day, every day. While morning sickness may just seem like one of the many inconveniences that comes with being a new mom, it can be dangerous. Having severe morning sickness can leave new moms dehydrated and malnourished, so it is wise to see a doctor if you feel your nausea is leaving you drained. Also, it is wise to consult your doctor about any of these tips or diet changes.
Try Chiropractic Care
Can getting your back cracked really help new moms with morning sickness? It may seem bizarre, but there have been some studies to prove that regular chiropractic care during pregnancy can help relieve morning sickness symptoms. Chiropractic care will not only make your back feel better, but it aligns the spine so that your nervous system can work optimally. Chiropractic care has been shown to lessen the frequency and severity of morning sickness in many new moms.
Change the Way You Eat
If you are battling with morning sickness, you can find relief by changing up your diet. You should be eating several small meals throughout the day. It is a good idea to remove processed foods and foods with sugar and dairy. Eat plain foods that are easy to digest, like rice, chicken, and steamed vegetables. For more extreme cases of morning sickness, consume only broths, clear soups, and juices.
This change of diet is not meant to be long term, but only to help your body get the nutrients it needs while you are suffering through constant nausea. Try keeping crackers by your bed and eat a few slowly before getting up in the morning.
Use Motion Sickness Bands
Motion sickness bands or bracelets can help because they put pressure on special pressure spots on your wrists. This can eliminate the nausea and sickness quickly. You can also try the motion sickness patches too.
Suck on A Hard Candy
When you can feel a wave of nausea come, stick a hard candy or piece of gum in your mouth. Some women swear by peppermint candies, while others prefer sour candies. Ginger candies or specialty pregnancy pops can also help.
There is no sure fire way to stop morning sickness in its tracks. For some women, these tips will help them manage their morning sickness. For others, these tips may only provide temporary relief or no relief at all. Every pregnancy is different, so it is essential to find what works for you so that you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.
