Little Known Facts about Chiropractic Care
By Sara Butler
Chiropractic has helped many people to live more active and pain-free lives, but many people aren’t aware of the ways in which chiropractic can help beyond just cracking the back. It’s time to get educated about chiropractic care with a few of the little knowns facts about chiropractic.
Pain is the Last Symptom
If you are experiencing pain as a result of something in your body not being quite right it is actually one of the last signals your body is sending you to let you know it. People often take pain relievers as a way to mask the pain but this doesn’t really address the underlying cause – a cause your chiropractor wants to discover. When the different systems of your body are not working in concert together, it makes you more susceptible to injury and illness, so make sure you see the chiropractor so you can get to the bottom of it.
Athletes Love Chiropractic
Many athletes, both amateur and professional, use chiropractic care to stay healthy, not just for injury. Since chiropractors are specialists in body mechanics, many professional sports teams also keep a chiropractor on staff for their athletes. They assist in injury prevention, recovery and improvement of balance and coordination. Chiropractors are valuable to any athlete at any level.
Your Nervous System is the Boss
If you think about your body as an orchestra, your central nervous system is the conductor. It makes sense that if one part of the orchestra isn’t performing as it should, then the whole thing will be thrown off! When your spine is out of alignment it has an impact on the different systems of your body since the central nervous system can’t communicate freely. This can mean your body isn’t working to its full potential – and unlocking that potential is the goal of every chiropractor.
Chiropractors Don’t Fix You
Your chiropractor has studied and worked hard to learn about the human body in order to assist you in finding optimal health, but they can’t magically heal you. What they can do is help to restore alignment to your spine which then helps restore range of motion, relieve tension in the muscles and nerves and allow your body to do what it was made to do – heal itself.
Chiropractors Are More than Spinal Experts
Your chiropractor knows their way around the spine in their sleep, but they also can assist you with goals in nutrition and fitness and help you with ergonomics in order to keep your body healthy. If something about your everyday routine is “wrong” they can help you identify it so it can be addressed!
