Do You Believe Smiling Can Affect Your Health?

By Tom Herrin

There may be lots of different ways that people seek to use to improve their health.  Diet, rest, and exercise are always on the list.  Having a good schedule is another thing that can be helpful.  Many times, the best things are available at little or no cost.  People tend to overlook the obvious because they seem too simple.  The expectation may be that in order for something to really make a difference, there should be a cost.  One of those inexpensive, and easy, things at the disposal of anyone is smiling.  Really?  A smile can have a greater impact on health than most people realize.

It May Make Better Workers

According to one study, people who smile and are happier and more creative in a job setting.  It may be due to the fact that they are relaxed and better able to make problem solving decisions.  It is also a fairly recognized fact that those who find some kind of joy while they are working are able to accomplish more.  The idea of whistling while you work is not a bad concept.  When people smile, they not only make themselves happier but others around them as well.

It Can Make You Appear More Attractive

People who smile naturally appeal to others.  Most people are drawn to a smiling face.  It sparks their interest.  Who doesn’t want to meet and spend time with someone who smiles.  People also have a greater level of trust for others who smile.  They usually enjoy being around people they trust.  It is believed that people who smile look an average of three years younger.  How many people are attracted to someone who doesn’t smile?

Smiling Can Improve Health In General

When you smile, you can reduce stress and lower heart rate.  This relaxing of the body can also help to boost immunity.  It allows your body to have a greater ability to react to illness and injury.  Smiling can help release endorphins and dull pain naturally.  It is an overall formula for a healthier lifestyle.  It may be a great time to evaluate yourself.  Could you smile more?  It might be worth your effort to give it a try.  Smile more, and you may find that people view you in a different light while you see an improvement in your own health.
