If You Are Into Outdoors, Your Ship Just Came In

By Tom Herrin

By now most people must have noticed that the season has changed.  No longer is it necessary to plan for the cold.  For people who enjoy the outdoors, they probably already have the shoes, shorts, and sun hat ready.  It is that time again, and it is a great time to start anew.  Not only is it warm and sunnier outside, but it is also the best time to reinvent a relationship that can have tremendous effects on the entire body.  Frame of mind can influence every fiber and ensure greater success in the things people do.

Being Outdoors Can Provide More Natural Vitamin D

Many times, people rely on artificial sources of Vitamin D.  The sun is a natural source and can provide plenty with a minimum amount of exposure.  Vitamin D is known to help in preventing problems with the bones.  More recently it has been shown to help in preventing some cancers and dementia.  Some studies have shown it to help build immunities and help in preventing diabetes.

Outdoor Activity Can Improve Your Eyes

Being outdoors has been shown to have a positive effect on the eyes, partly because when people are outdoors, they are away from computer screens.  The same can be said about television.  The light of these screens has a damaging effect on the eyes, causing problems such as dry eyes and blurred vision along with headaches and neck pain.  Artificial light has also been shown to increase the likelihood of nearsightedness.  On the other hand, exposure to natural light has been shown in studies to decrease the instances of it.

Spending Time Outdoors Can Improve Sleep

Many people in today’s world have excessive amounts of artificial light.  There is plenty of evidence that a lack of natural light can disrupt sleep cycles.  Our bodies fail to register what time of day it is and, as a result, suffer seriously from lack of the ability to sleep well.  The result of this may be more accidents, less productivity at work and school, and more social problems.  Studies have shown that a few hours outdoors on a regular basis can change this and greatly influence a person’s ability to sleep efficiently.  With the onset of spring, it is prime time to take advantage of the opportunity to get outdoors.  Give it a try and you may see greater productivity and more fulfillment in your life.
