The fall is the perfect time to revamp your workout routine. The weather is cooler. The nights are inviting. The holidays are approaching. It’s a great time to gain some motivation and make some changes in order to boost your health and up your fitness. Of course, no matter when you choose to up the intensity of your workout, it’s always a challenge. To make it easier on yourself, take a look at these simple ways to get a little more exercise during the fall months.
Walk to Destinations
Because the weather is so perfect, it’s a great time to skip the car and go for a walk instead. If you’re only a few blocks away from your destination, get some exercise and fresh air by walking from one place to the next. If you’re really brave and motivated, you may even be able to walk a mile or two. Just carry an extra pair of shoes in your car, and walk when the opportunity arises. The more you walk on a regular basis, the more exercise you’ll get without even noticing.
Take Care of Your Yard
The fall brings dead grass, falling leaves, and plenty of work to do. If you’ll commit to keeping your yard in shape, you’ll be able to burn a lot of calories this fall. Yard work is no easy task. Weeding, mowing, and especially raking burn massive calories and help to keep you in shape. Though it won’t feel like a typical workout, you’ll definitely feel the burn when the work is complete.
Get Outside With the Family
Take advantage of the beautiful weather and get outdoors with family and friends. Being outdoors just encourages movement. You can't sit around in front of the TV or computer. You have to walk and stand and be active. Go for hikes, play a fun game or sport, cook out, or do whatever you like. Just get outdoors, and you’ll likely be encouraging your entire family to get a little more movement and a little boost in health all at the same time.
