A Good Listener May Enjoy Better Health

While striving to do things to have better health, it doesn’t always require hard physical effort or great sacrifice. There are times when all it takes is a little listening. Even though it is a passive activity, people may be able to do some real good things with this minimal amount of effort. Listening to soft music has a longstanding history of success in respect to people’s health in several ways. In recent years, several studies have been able to bear out what was assumed in years previous. Listening to soft music, particularly jazz, can enhance health.
It May Improve Focus and Energy
Many people have had the experience of exercising to music. Certain beats can ramp up the energy level and help people to concentrate their efforts without distractions. This can help reduce fatigue. It can also help to bring out those creative abilities needed to perform well in a job or school. Many people are aware of it without actually identifying it as such.
It May Help with Pain Relief
Music therapy has been used for many kinds of things. Using it to help to treat pain has shown some real promise. For those who suffer frequent headaches, it seems to lessen the effects and shorten the time of the headache. It has even shown success with migraines. In one study, those who listened to music had a 21 percent decrease in pain as opposed to a 2 percent increase for those who did not. It has now been used to help with pain during childbirth, postoperative pain, and with anesthesia.
It May Reduce Stress
Most people deal with stress of some kind almost every day. Finding ways to lessen the effects of it may be a great way of supporting health. It has shown great success with helping to improve sleep. Studies show that listening for 45 minutes before going to bed can improve the quality and quantity of sleep for an individual. I frequently listen before I go to bed and find it really relaxing. I also use it to drown out other sounds that may prove distracting. If you are interested in one of the simplest ways to improve health, tune in to some jazz of other soft music. You may find yourself much more rested in the morning.
