How a Clean Room Affects Your Health
By Genevieve Cunningham
Cleaning is a funny task. Some people love it. They love the process, the smell, and the appearance. Other people hate the thought of cleaning anything. They don't like the overpowering smell of cleaner. They don't like the scrubbing and organizing. They just aren't interested. Of course, everyone loves the results. A clean house, clean room, and clean car can make everything else in life feel better. And even more importantly, clean surroundings can impact your health! If you're interested in boosting your health, take a look at why it's a good idea to start by simply cleaning your room.
Clears Out Germs
When we live in filth, we're also living in germs. Whether it's viruses that we aren't cleaning away regularly or bacteria from the mess, we don't need these kinds of germs invading our bodies and making us sick. Cleaning our room -- or whatever space we spend a lot of time in -- means cleaning out the germs and the potential for illness along with it.
Improves Your Mood
Clutter is really bad for our mood. There's something about being surrounded by stuff that makes us feel overwhelmed and irritable. When we clear out the junk, we feel a weight lift from our minds. You'll very likely find your mood and overall health improve relatively quickly -- all because your environment is clean and clear. If you often find yourself frustrated and irritable, and your space is less than neat and tidy, consider giving this a try.
Organizes Both Space and Thoughts
Organization matters. You've probably heard the old adage "messy desk, messy mind." If not, it generally implies that the outside reflects the inside. If you're messy, your thoughts are probably messy too. But if we turn our environment around and make it neat and organized, your thoughts are more likely to follow suit. It might take time, but the two will feed off of each other to improve multiple areas of your health and life.
You might not love the act of cleaning, but you'll absolutely love the results. Make sure tidiness is a part of your life. Protect your space. With an environment that makes you feel good, you may notice that every aspect of your health -- mental, emotional, and physical -- begins to feel better as well.
