Plastic Toys May Motivate You to Better Health
By Tom Herrin
There are times when people seek to improve their health with little success due to the frustration of their own struggle with activity. There are other times when people stumble onto that right activity that can provide good exercise while people are having fun. Frisbee or disc golf may be a game that people played when they were young, but it has found a new following in recent years as a game that can be enjoyed by all. A chain net has been added in most cases as can be seen in parks and playgrounds around many communities.
It Can Be a Good Starter Exercise
Getting out in a park or other outdoor setting is always a good way to slide back into a routine of exercise. The activity is relatively casual as people move around the designated course attempting to be successful at the various “holes.” A person could easily walk a mile or more as they try to remain focused on the objective. They may do this without ever realizing they are walking so much. The fun provides the motivation, so the drudgery is not there. Some people run or jog around the course in an attempt to add to the level of competition.
It Provides Social Opportunities
The game may be played or practiced alone, but it is most often played in groups. I have seen kids from church groups or something similar as they have gathered around for some friendly play. It is also a good game for families since age does not appear to be a factor. It could be a pretty nice date for those looking for a non-threatening activity that can allow some casual socializing.
It Can Build Confidence
Anytime you have a chance to improve your skills at whatever you do, it can create a good feeling. The angles, wind, and other obstacles pose small challenges that may be overcome with work. Practice can be enjoyable. When you become more successful at anything, you simply feel better about it. You will be more likely to be willing to try new things. While disc golf will not provide much heavy duty exercise, it will get your foot back into the door of being more active. When you find that you can have fun with it, you will be much more likely to do it.
