Chiropractic Tips for Tired Office Workers

Office work isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You may not have a particularly physical job as you sit behind a desk all day, but still, you may find that once the afternoon hits you are exhausted. How did this happen? Afternoon fatigue is really common for most people, and here’s what your chiropractor thinks you should do about it.

Don’t Sugar or Caffeine Up

The first line of defense for many people against afternoon fatigue at work is to grab a soda or something sugary from the vending machine to help them perk up. That may work in the short-term, but in the long term, your energy will crash.

The slump you experience in the afternoon is the sign of a much larger problem, namely a problem with your metabolism. If your metabolism isn’t working the way it should, then that can make for health problems down the road, such as diabetes.

Watch What You Eat

If you want to give your metabolism a boost, it’s not going to be accomplished with caffeine. You need to eat a diet full of the good stuff such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Get rid of the highly processed foods in your diet and eat things as close to their natural state as possible.

Get Some Exercise

You need regular exercise to keep your metabolism firing on all cylinders. Doing some type of moderate exercise four to five times a week for 30 minutes can help you to feel much better and help you to have more energy. It’ll also inspire you to sleep better at night, something that can only help with your energy levels when you’re awake.

Get up from your desk and move around every hour or so. It doesn’t have to be anything big, but stand up, stretch, walk to the water fountain or the restroom – just get some blood pumping and break out of the posture you’ve been sitting in.
