Fitness is personal. You have to choose something you enjoy in order to help keep you motivated to work toward your individual fitness goals. Remember, sticking with a workout is one of the most important factors in meeting your fitness goals! So, you need to find a fitness routine that ticks all your boxes for the perfect workout. Classes are a great way to break into the fitness world and here’s how you can find the right class for you.
Find a Great Teacher
The teacher makes or breaks a fitness class. A good instructor will know what they’re doing and be passionate about it, making even the most challenging workout feel like something you can do. Good teachers also provide just the right amount of personal attention to help you know they’re tuned into what you need, not just another face in the crowd. Follow your instincts when it comes to instructors – if you’re not feeling it, then you’re not feeling it.
Taking a fitness class with a friend is a great way to stay motivated, but if no friends are available, then you have to make them. An encouraging and supportive environment in a fitness class can make all the difference. The regulars you see and meet at the gym become your support when it’s difficult to get through a workout. They push you to help you try harder and make your class something you look forward to. If you don’t get a vibe you like from a class and the people in it, then it might be time to find another.
Every class is unique. You may have a friend who swears by their Barre class, but that may not be your thing. Some classes can be too slow for you or too intense. The trick is to find the Goldilocks zone of personal fitness – what class challenges you the way you want to be challenged and in a way you enjoy? A good workout routine will push you but not so hard you never want to go back.
