How to Stay Healthy and Fit on a Getaway
By Sara Butler
If you have plans to travel, no doubt you’re looking forward to enjoying leisure time with your friends and family. But one of the dangers vacations present is sticking to your healthy habits. If you want to keep your lifestyle habits alive and well even when you’re away, then you need these tips!
Drink Up!
No, not that kind of drinking! When you’re on vacation, staying hydrated with good, old-fashioned water is a priority. This will help to keep your metabolism firing on all cylinders and your skin hydrated. Pack your own refillable water bottle for your trip and make sure to sip and refill throughout the day, especially if you’re going to be flying. The dry air in an airplane can leave you dehydrated.
If you do like to indulge with a cocktail while on vacation, then make sure to have water in between each drink. This will help you feel energized and refreshed throughout your trip. What's the use of taking a vacation if you can't remember it?
Bring Snacks
One of the biggest downfalls to health and wellness on vacation is food. It’s easy to indulge in things you normally wouldn’t when you’re at home -- especially if you find yourself in a position where you’re hungry and have nothing on hand. That’s where bringing your own snacks comes in handy. You can stay fueled with your favorite snacks and think with a clear head about whether or not something you want to indulge in is really worth it. Find some easy to pack snacks and make sure to keep them with you when you’re on the go.
Explore
If you don’t have access to a gym, then go exploring! Take a long walk to explore your new surroundings. It will get your body moving as you familiarize yourself with new and beautiful surroundings.
If you find yourself in your hotel room or Airbnb, then you can easily find a workout to suit your needs on the computer. That’s helpful if there’s no gym at your disposal. Remember, even when you’re on vacation, it’s important to keep your body moving!
Sticking with your healthy habits when you're on vacation can be a challenge, but it's one you should try to meet. Otherwise, you'll have to overcome the bad habits you pick up while away -- and any extra pounds you tacked on!
