Skin Care Tips for the Fall Season
By Brandi Swieter
Once the fall weather starts to settle in, many people realize that the cold and rain is doing no favors for their skin. Before the face and hands get too dried out, it’s important for people to start a new skin care regimen that will help them maintain their luster. Just a few skin care tips should be used each fall season to prevent damage.
Use Moisturizer
While it’s ideal to use moisturizer no matter the season, it is particularly important during the cold weather months. It will help drying skin to stay supple and smooth. The wind is a major factor in skin getting dried out, as it tends to chap it and make it appear rough.
Keep Chapstick Handy
The lips can get dried out easily when it starts to get colder. It’s best to keep chapstick handy so it can be applied anytime it’s needed. Avoid fruity flavors and colors and try a true chapstick with healing qualities and real benefits.
Continue to Wear Sunscreen
Many people believe they can stop wearing sunscreen when the cold weather begins. It is actually best to continue to use it anytime a person goes out of the house, particularly if it’s still sunny outside. The cold weather won’t stop the sun from impacting the skin. The snow that starts in late fall and early winter won’t even deter sunburn, as the bright white can help to reflect the sun’s rays. It’s ideal to at least use an SPF 15 option.
Focus on the Feet
The feet often get overlooked during cold months as people are starting to ditch their sandals and keep their feet covered with socks and tennis shoes or boots instead. Feet become extremely dry and irritated as it gets cold, particularly due to keeping them cooped up in shoes throughout the day. They were more free in the summertime. Use lotion and a foot scrub to keep dead skin at bay and ensure the feet stay in the best condition possible. They will dry and crack easily otherwise.
The skin will not remain healthy no matter which products get used if the body isn’t healthy overall. Pain and stress to the system can cause issues with the skin as well, such as discoloration, redness, and even puffiness. Visit The Joint Chiropractic to have subluxations removed and watch the skin transform as the pain goes away.
