Learning to De-Stress During Stress Awareness Month

By Brandi Swieter

Stress Awareness Month arrives every year in April, reminding people about the danger stress can put on their health. Learning to de-stress is the best thing people can do to help themselves cope with tense and tough situations in their lives. With a few methods, each person looking to keep the stress at bay can do so easier than before.

Keep a Daily Journal

Daily journaling is an easy way for people to keep track of their thoughts and feelings. Though a journal can be used to write down negative thoughts about the day, the best option is to write about positive feelings instead. This gives some better inspiration for the day and helps people decompress after a long day far better than focusing on the negative.

Watch a Comedic Movie

Laughter is a great source of medicine, and it’s an excellent way to help de-stress. Simply sitting down to watch a comedy movie at the end of a long day will have people feeling far better than before the movie started. Even a sitcome on TV will help.

Spend Time With Friends

Too many people get so busy with their lives that they leave little time for friends and family. An easy way to forget about stress for a while is to go and meet up with some friends and spend time enjoying each other’s company. Play a game, sit around and chat, and find ways to laugh together so the whole party can de-stress from their lives and leave feeling better than before.

Get More Exercise

Exercise provides an extremely healthy release for stress. As people work out, endorphins get released. This makes people feel good and less stressed than usual. Find time throughout the day to exercise and watch stress levels decrease dramatically.

Visit a Chiropractor

A chiropractor is one of the best people to visit after a stressful situations. An adjustment will help to relieve some pain and tension in the body, as well as it allow the mind to relax. This will help a person de-stress overall, allowing them to feel much better walking out than they did walking in.

Stress awareness is much more than learning what stress is and how it comes about. People also need to learn how to find ways to de-stress their minds and bodies. Visit The Joint Chiropractic to relieve some stress and help relax both the body and mind. Paired with other coping mechanisms, stress should never be that much of a bother to life again.
