Tricks to Make Exercise Easier
By Sara Butler
Exercise should be a part of daily life for everyone. Yet even the fittest and most dedicated person is going to experience dips in motivation from time to time. This can be worse if you’re a person who really doesn’t like to exercise in the first place! If you find that your motivation to work out could use a boost, then here are a few tricks you can use to help to make getting up and working out easier!
Pack Your Bags
If you exercise at the gym on your way to or from work, then this is a really important trick to employ. If you take the time each night to pack your bag for the gym and include a list of crucial items you can’t forget, then it’ll be one less obstacle to get your workout in the next day.
Join a Gym on your Route
One of the keys to showing up at the gym regularly is location. If your gym is conveniently located near you, such as on your way to work, then you’ll be more likely to go even when you’re not feeling very motivated.
Create a Deadline
You must have a goal for your workouts, but goals by themselves aren’t enough. You must also give that goal a deadline; otherwise, it might feel as if there’s no end in sight. Sign up for an event, such as walking a 5K, which can help to give you something to work toward. Otherwise, you may just feel like a hamster on a wheel at the gym -- and that’s not motivating to anyone!
Invest
Everyone likes to feel as if they’re getting a good deal, which is why buying fitness-related things is such a good idea! Buy a month-long pass for a group exercise class at the gym or a yoga studio, buy a few new pieces of workout gear for your closet, or maybe invest in an activity tracker. That way, you may feel motivated to get your money’s worth out of your new investments and challenge yourself.
Reward Yourself
When you reach a milestone in your fitness regimen, reward yourself. That might mean something small like a movie or something bigger like a vacation! Whatever you think will motivate you to keep on keeping on should be utilized as a motivator. Try to envision the fun and exciting things you can do as you celebrate reaching your fitness goals.
Exercise has so many benefits, so do what you must to stay motivated!
