3 Types of Junk Food You Should Try to Avoid

By Genevieve Cunningham

Who doesn’t love to sit down with a plate full of junk food? We all do! It’s easy, delicious, and satisfying. Unfortunately, it’s also incredibly unhealthy. But it can be hard to quit all junk food cold turkey. Like it or not, we’re a bit addicted. Instead of taking the all-or-nothing approach, it might be better to scale back. But where do we begin? If you would like to get your junk food problem under control, take a look at these three foods you should start to avoid as soon as today.

French Fries

The problem with french fries is that they are absolutely everywhere! And this makes them really hard to ignore. French fries are the main side dish in almost every fast food restaurant. They’re heavily salted and packed full of calories and carbohydrates. So how do you quit this delicious junk food? Either avoid these eating places or choose the healthier option. Buy the hamburger individually and skip the meal. Ask for the apple slices instead. Skip the burger joint and hit up a sandwich shop. Since french fries are so good, avoidance is best until you get this habit under control.

Pre-Sweetened Cereal

Lucky Charms, Trix, Frosted Flakes. These kinds of cereals are delicious! They’re sweet and kid friendly and almost nostalgic. But they’re also full of sugar and too many calories to start your day. The good thing about this junk food is that there are easy alternatives available. Just choose another, healthier cereal as your breakfast. There are plenty of healthy options that offer a sweet flavor, so choose wisely and enjoy.

Soda

This is the hardest thing to give up for a lot of people. They don’t like water, or they’re addicted to the caffeine. Whatever the case, quitting soda is hard. But it’s also necessary if you’re really cleaning up your diet. To quit, just cut back slowly. Replace your soda with juice or a sports drink. Then cut back to flavored water, and finally make the switch to regular H2O. It might be tough, but giving up soda will leave you feeling better and lighter than ever.

Junk food is hard to give up. It’s good … really good. But it’s so damaging to your health. To get you started, just use these three foods. Quit one at a time, and build up your confidence. As you master one, move on to another. Over time, you’ll be able to quit these and other junk foods for good, leaving you in better health than ever before.
