Wearing the Right Workout Clothes Improves the Moves
By Brandi Swieter
Working out isn’t as simple as getting up and trying out some exercises. To really make the most of the session, the right gear needs to get utilized, including the clothes. Wearing the right workout clothes will improve the moves and ensure a good session.
Performance Fabrics
Fabrics specifically meant for performance are often moisture-wicking. They keep the wearer dry so their clothes do not become saturated with sweat, making it uncomfortable to continue the workout. Cotton shirts should never get worn because they hold the moisture in, making the wearer feel wet as soon as the sweat starts pouring.
Correct-Fitting Clothing
Too many people think they can slip into a baggy T-shirt and shorts and work out. Loose clothing should not get worn, as it can get caught in the machine. It will also impair a person’s ability to move and exercise correctly, as long or baggy clothes can get in the way as they try to perform. Clothes that are much too tight will be a problem as well, as the wearer will be uncomfortable and unable to continue for long. The correct-fitting clothing is necessary while attempting to exercise.
Support Shoes
Shoes are critical to a workout. They need to provide support yet feel comfortable to be able to continue the workout for as long as needed. An old pair of sneakers may seem like a good choice, but that’s not the case if they don’t offer the support necessary. It may be time to invest in a new pair.
Breathable Socks
Socks are important as well. The wrong ones can lead to blisters as the feet rub against them excessively. Cotton socks can trap moisture, leaving the feet sweaty and wet. A breathable, well-fitted pair of socks is the best option for a workout. Moisture-wicking options are available with added comfort and support that work well.
No Jewelry
While there are some must-have items for a workout, there are also some must-nots. Never wear jewelry, especially if weight machines are involved. Necklaces, bracelets, and more can get stuck in gym equipment easily, so it’s best if they’re avoided altogether. They can also get ruined due to excessive sweat, so all jewelry might as well get left at home.
A great workout is far more dependent on clothes than one would think. With ill-fitting options, the exercise routine will be cut short due to being uncomfortable. Moisture-wicking options, performance fabrics, correct-fitting clothing, and supportive shoes are all necessary when hitting the gym.
