The Joint a Sponsor of Regency Riptides Swim Team
The Joint Chiropractic in April became a sponsor of the Regency Riptides Swim team. The Regency Riptides Swim Team is a swim team for children up to the age of 18. There are a wide variety of ages and skill levels. The team competes and gives their swimmers confidence in the water and teaches them to set personal goals and proper sportsmanship.
Swimming is a fantastic sport for people of all ages because it is a low-impact sport. Elderly people, people with mobility issues, as well as young children can benefit from swimming. However, like all sports, swimming can still cause injuries and harm a swimmer's joints. Swimming is made up of repetitive motions which can lead to joints becoming stressed and resulting in an injury.
The Joint Chiropractic's Dr. Todd Wegerski explains: "Swimming injuries can be related to the type of stroke that the swimmer uses. The most common injuries are in the shoulders, knees, hips and back."
Sports, such as swimming, are a great way to provide adults and children with a fun way to exercise and promote a healthy lifestyle. Another important aspect of a healthy lifestyle is chiropractic care. Routine chiropractic care not only helps treat swimming injuries, but can help prevent them. Stress, wear, and inflammation of tendons and ligaments is not uncommon from repeated use of a joint. There are many benefits to treating the whole family with chiropractic care, and chiropractors can do more than just help alleviate pain from sports.
