3 Effective Workouts That Are Zero Cost
By Genevieve Cunningham
We have a lot of excuses that keep us from working out. Sometimes we claim it's that we don't have time. Sometimes we claim that we don't have enough energy. And a lot of the time, we claim that we don't have the money. The bad news is that this is often true! We don't have the money for a gym membership or to join that trendy class. The good news is that working out doesn't have to cost you anything at all! If you're ready to get fit without spending a dime, take a look at these great ways to do it.
Walking
All you really need to walk is a space to do it. Find a local park and walk on the trail or sidewalk. Or you could find a safe neighborhood and walk a few blocks. Or you could find the local high school and use the track. There are so many ways to find a free place to walk -- there's really no excuse! Put on some shoes -- whatever shoes you have -- find a good place to walk, and you'll get in a great workout.
Hiking
If you want to take it up a notch from walking, try hiking. You might think that you need big equipment to do this, but that's only if you're going to hike a difficult trail or a mountain. All you really need is appropriate clothes and shoes. Shoes that are supportive and tough will work. And clothes that cover you for each season will keep you comfortable. Find your nearest easy hiking trail, and you can enjoy nature and get fit for no money at all.
Yoga
Nope, you don't have to join that expensive class to get in a good yoga workout. All you need is YouTube. There are thousands of free videos that you can use in the comfort of your own home. As long as you have the internet, you can do yoga. No mat? Use a blanket. No strap? Use a towel. No blocks? Use a stack of books. Just make sure that you follow the teacher so that you keep your body safe from injury, but still get a good workout too.
Getting fit doesn't have to cost a fortune. Not at all! All you need is a little creativity and some willingness to work. Use these ideas to get in better shape for little or no money at all. You'll feel better, look better, and feel happier with more movement in your life while still saving your paycheck.
