3 Power Foods to Get You Through the Day
By Genevieve Cunningham
Sometimes it seems like our biggest accomplishment of the day is simply making it through to the night. Some days are just not easy. They're long. They're draining. They're overwhelming. Add a poor diet and a little stress on top of a hard day, and you have a recipe for disaster. Luckily, there are choices that you can make on a daily basis that greatly affect your body's ability to cope. If you're ready to heal your body and give it what it needs to make it through every day with ease, take a look at these three foods to add to your menu starting today.
Leafy Greens
Leafy greens don't get enough credit. We really only think about leafy greens when we're eating a salad, but we don't think about other ways to incorporate them or their overall nutritional value. But if you can figure out how to add them into your menu, you're adding protein, fiber, Vitamin C, iron, and a ton of other nutrients into your body. And fueling yourself with quality food is one of the best ways to improve your energy. Start with lettuce, then add some kale, then move on to spinach and other varieties, and you'll have a menu that keeps you feeling strong and healthy.
Berries
If you need a tastier option, look no further than berries. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. Berries contain high levels of antioxidants -- one of the highest compared with their relative size and weight. They're also full of water, which means you're giving your body both healthy nutrients and keeping it hydrated at the same time. Choose some of your favorites and keep them stocked in your fridge. When you need a pick-me-up, grab a handful and keep going.
Eggs
Eggs can be a good addition to your menu. They're full of protein, which can help give your muscles energy as well as keep you feeling full. Though we think of them as a breakfast food, they can also be eaten as a snack or added to a salad with lunch. They're easy, affordable, and readily available. This is a good option for anyone who wants to take their diet in a healthier direction without having to branch out too far.
If we are what we eat, then we have to eat foods that are full of energy and life. Doing so can help us turn our health and bodies around and move them in the right direction. Add these foods to your menu to improve your energy and overall health starting as quickly as today.
