3 Incredibly Rewarding Exercises to Try Today
By Genevieve Cunningham
Exercise is a necessary part of a healthy lifestyle. Without exercise, you’re at a higher risk of being overweight, suffering from various illnesses or conditions, and dealing with excessive and unnecessary pain. We all know that we need exercise, and yet, many of us continue to skip out on hitting the gym. Why? Sometimes it’s pure laziness, but other times it’s because we’re bored, frustrated, or otherwise uninterested in our normal routine. We need a change. We need a challenge. Or maybe, we need to see and feel positive results without the pain and soreness attached to working out. So what can we do? If you need to change it up a bit, take a look at these three incredibly rewarding exercises that you should give a try as soon as today.
Swimming
Swimming is a relaxing workout. It feels so good to take a dip in the pool, especially if the temperature outside is creeping upward. But it’s also an incredible challenge. It’s a huge challenge for the lungs, as they have to adjust to breathing in a particular pattern and must also take in more air to send oxygen to your demanding muscles. It’s also hard on the muscles, as even though you probably won’t feel sore (until the next day!), you will definitely feel the fatigue. Swimming can definitely get you in shape, but it’s nice and soothing, so you’ll be improving your fitness and enjoying your time all at the same time.
Walking
Many people skip walking because they feel as though it’s not challenging enough. But the truth is that walking is a great workout for all people of all ages. It’s low-impact, so it doesn’t cause impossible soreness or extreme fatigue. But it’s challenging enough to get you into better shape. Buy some good supportive shoes, and then go for a walk around the block, at the track, on a trail, or in your backyard. Just get moving, and you’ll be walking toward better health before you know it.
Yoga
Yoga is a tough exercise for a lot of people because it’s mentally challenging. You want me to stay in the same position for how long?! But if you can keep your mind calm and present (which will also improve your life), yoga will give you a deep stretch that is incredibly satisfying. You might feel stiff at the beginning, but by the end, your muscles will likely feel worked, but also long, strong, and loose. It’s a satisfying feeling that makes you feel more fit and flexible from the beginning. Just stick with it, and you’ll be feeling the effects in no time.
Exercise doesn’t have to be incredibly strenuous or back-breaking to be effective. There are plenty of ways to enjoy your routine without suffering at the end. Use these fun and rewarding exercises to get in shape while still enjoying the process. Your workout should be tough, but it should also feel good. Have fun while getting fit, and the results are more likely to last a lifetime.
