Don't Let Pain Get You Down, See Your Chiropractor

By Stephen R. Farris

No matter if you sit, stand, or when you find yourself working in tight spaces on your back, eventually you're going to feel some aches and pains. Sometimes it can't be helped. But most of the time it can be prevented.

That's why it's important to see your local chiropractor on a regular basis, to help prevent aches and pain in your back, neck, and joints. When those aches and pains occur, your local chiropractor can help give you relief and the good news is, there's no over-the-counter medication or prescription drugs you'll have to take.

Chiropractic care is a gentle, all-natural, noninvasive, and non-addictive form of treatment. Doctors of chiropractic care use a hands-on technique to ensure your spine is aligned the way it should be, and also to reduce restrictions on the joints.

You see, when we sit for work, we tend to slack with our posture. We slouch over, or slump down in our chair, which can put pressure on the lower back and your neck. When we stand for long periods of time, we sometimes find something to lean on, or we shift from one leg to the other. These movements, while not immediately noticed, can also put undue pressure on our back, knees, ankles, and feet.

However, you can prevent this from happening by using a back support -- both for sitting or standing -- and making sure (while sitting for long periods) you're sitting up straight with your knees and feet at a right angle and touching the floor (feet that is). When standing, make sure your head is up, shoulders back, chest out, and your arms slightly bent.

Even when you're not feeling pain, it's always a good idea to check in at least once a month to make sure your spine and joints are in alignment. Consider it like visiting your primary care physician for a wellness check.

There are additional benefits you can receive by visiting your local chiropractor for treatments and regularly, such as:

  • Relief from neck pain
  • Relief from back pain
  • Relief from leg pain
  • Relief from migraines/headaches
  • Improved mobility and flexibility

There's a long list of benefits, but the main idea is to stay healthy so you won't miss time from work or play. And remember, your local chiropractor can answer any questions you may have concerning your overall health, exercise, and nutrition, so don't hesitate to ask.
