Enhance Your Sleep Routine With Chiropractic
By Brandi Goodman
Sleep doesn't come easy for a lot of people. If you're one who tends to struggle to fall asleep at night, wakes easily, or never feels well-rested by morning, it may be time to speak to a chiropractor. You can enhance your sleep routine with the help of chiropractic as long as you follow their guidance.
Get Routine Chiropractic Care
The first step is to start getting routine chiropractic care. Even the tiniest subluxation or joint restriction in your body can make it difficult for you to get the rest you need. It can cause discomfort and interfere with the mind-body connection. Regular adjustments and assessments performed by a doctor of chiropractic can correct this and help you fall asleep more easily.
Update Your Pillow and Mattress
Both your pillow and your mattress should be updated at regular intervals. Pillows need to be exchanged far more often, with a recommended timeframe of just one or two years per use. Mattresses can last for eight years before needing replacement. However, this may be shorter if you've worn yours out quickly or just never grew accustomed to the one you bought before. Chiropractors suggest using a chiropractic pillow for neck support and finding a mattress with the right firmness level for spinal support.
Change Your Bedding for the Weather
The weather can have a major impact on how well you sleep. Chiropractors suggest changing your bedding depending on what the weather is like at the time. If it's extremely hot, you won't be able to sleep with a warm blanket covering you. A sheet or thin, cotton blanket would be best. On the other hand, something thin won't suffice for the cold. A thick comforter may be needed.
Set Sleep and Wake Times
Having a routine means setting both sleep and wake times. Once your body gets used to falling asleep at a certain time each night and waking at the same time every day, it will be easier to manage on its own without the need of assistance. Avoid napping for long periods during the daytime as well so you can stick to these appointed times more easily.
Chiropractic may not solve all your struggles, but it should work to enhance your sleep routine and give you better rest than what you've been used to. A sleepless night isn't the norm. You need proper sleep if you hope to maintain your health and well-being.
