Get Healthy Now: 3 Changes to Make to Your Diet

By Virginia Laird

I am constantly trying to improve my health in a variety of ways. Much of the time, I try to improve my diet, but get lost in the vast amount of research made available. While there are many healthy diets to follow, some research suggests that one great way to begin is to start by making healthy food choices. For those in search of ways to drop a few pounds, find healthy food alternatives, or simply wanting to cut some junk out of their diet, health and wellness experts have compiled a list of tips to help you start making changes right away. These include:

  • Stop consuming soda
  • Add veggies to your diet
  • Eat smaller meals more often

Stop Consuming Soda

For years, I have spent my fair share of money investing in a daily Diet Dr. Pepper with vanilla. The thought of giving this up makes me sad. However, research suggests that soda can wreak havoc on the body. Some experts advise that diet soda contains chemicals which have been linked to cancer, while those who choose to partake of regular soda are consuming an abundance of calories that offer little to no nutritional value. Experts suggest you begin making water your choice of beverage right away.

Add Veggies to Your Diet

Veggies are often a food group that gets overlooked. Some turn their nose at the thought of consuming veggies without a thought to taste, etc. However, health and wellness experts advise the adding veggies to your diet is one great way to improve your health. Consuming fresh veggies can provide a host of vitamins and minerals without the need of supplements. If you are not a fan of veggies, consider pairing them with hummus to add more flavor.

Eat Smaller Meals More Often

Over the last decade, research has suggested that eating five to six smaller meals each day is better for your health than consuming three large meals. Health and wellness experts advise that following this suggestion can help keep your metabolism properly functioning. This can also prevent you from overeating, as eating often can keep you from having the sensation of starving. Experts suggest when you begin this habit, it is necessary to count your calories in an effort to keep them balanced throughout the day.

Now you are ready to begin making a few changes to your diet which can help you start your path to a healthier you.
