Avoid These 4 Things, Says the Chiropractor
By Brandi Goodman
Most people will tell you that you need to avoid unhealthy foods and poor posture if you want to be healthier overall. You'll also want to avoid these four things, as told by the chiropractor. Doing so can help you far more than you may realize.
Avoid Looking Down
Whether you're walking down the street or you're simply looking at your phone, the chiropractor wants you to avoid looking down. The weight of your head can tug terribly at your neck and shoulders and leave them in some serious pain. You always want to keep your head held high and facing forward -- a great metaphor for how to get through tough times in life all while helping you avoid discomfort as well.
Avoid Pushing Yourself Too Hard
Say you're at the gym and trying to go as hard as possible at your workout. You may burn plenty of calories, but you're also likely to end up stuck in bed for a few days because of how sore you feel. You should avoid pushing yourself too hard in anything, as it can seriously backfire. You never want to overdo it and end up feeling sore or stressed because you took on too much.
Avoid Carrying Such a Large Bag
A large, bulky bag only weighs you down. This is especially troublesome if you're keeping it one shoulder only and not distributing the weight. You'll notice pain quickly on one side of your body when you're carrying a one-strap bag. You should utilize a double strapped backpack instead so the weight sits evenly across your back. If it's a suitcase you're carrying, find one with a handle and be sure to switch arms back and forth so you aren't overexerting one over the other.
Avoid Falling Asleep in an Improper Position
You should get into a comfortable sleeping position before you fall asleep. If you let yourself drift off without being properly situated, you could wake in quite some pain. Don't fall asleep on the couch, for example, and try not to sleep on your stomach, either. You should sleep on your side or back, preferably with a pillow between or under your knees, to keep your spine aligned and feeling alright.
With these unhealthy habits avoided, you should be able to make it through your day much easier. If you still end up experiencing pain for any reason, it's always best to stop in at The Joint Chiropractic and get an assessment. Doctors will adjust your spine and offer additional guidance so you can lead as pain-free of a life as possible.
