Meet The Doctors

Dr. Taryn Lewis, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Mason

Dr. Taryn Lewis first joined The Joint Chiropractic network in 2018 when she opened the Blue Ash clinic in Cincinnati. After over three years with the Blue Ash location she decided to open a second location nearby in Mason. A 2014 graduate of Logan University in St. Louis Missouri, Dr. T received a bachelor’s degree in life sciences, a master’s degree in sports science and rehabilitation, and graduated with her doctorate of chiropractic in 2016.

She says the best thing about being in the chiropractic field is changing people’s lives, influencing and empowering patients to take control of their health & wellness with subtle changes in their habits & routines. She values the power of the chiropractic adjustment and loves that it can really give people the opportunity to move better “and live pain-free.”

“The other thing I love about chiropractic care is providing holistic alternative healthcare to patients who would otherwise be living in pain, taking drugs, or undergoing surgery,” she says.

A product of Cincinnati -- she grew up playing competitive softball and volleyball in Colerain and then moved to Ross when she was a junior in high school -- Dr. T enjoys outdoor activities with my son, especially hiking, kayaking, and camping.”

A big sports fan, she loves attending baseball games and supporting the Cincinnati Reds. “I also love attending live music events,” she says. “I’ve seen more than 100 different artists and groups perform. The energy at most live music events is something special that can't be experienced elsewhere."

Dr. T says she has known from a young age, “about 12- to 14 years old,” that she wanted to work in the chiropractic field.

“My first indirect experience came from seeing family and friends who found so much relief from chiropractic care,” she says. “My family owns an asphalt paving company, which is extremely hard work, and back injuries are not uncommon. I had witnessed first-hand from my dad, grandpa, and uncle how crippling neck and back injuries can be, and how ineffective other traditional treatment methods were -- including pain medication. I also saw how much relief they all achieved through chiropractic.

“My first personal experience came when I was transitioning to high school when it was recommended that my mother take me to see a chiropractor for further evaluation of scoliosis after having received a spinal screen at school. Shortly after that, I learned I have an uncommon type of scoliosis, congenital, which means I was born with some odd shaped vertebrae and my scoliosis would never completely resolve. I was an extremely active kid growing up and played both volleyball and softball year-round for six years. While there are normal aches and pains that come with playing sports, there was also added pain and discomfort due to the scoliosis, but seeing my chiropractor kept much of that at a minimum and enabled me to continue doing what I loved!”

In Case You Didn't Know

Dr. T enjoys traveling and has done many interesting things. She fondly recalls a month-long trip to Europe as an eighth-grader, which included France, Italy and Malta. “I saw everything from the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Vatican to the statue of David, the Mona Lisa, and Pompeii.”

She is a certified open water scuba diver & has been scuba diving with sea turtles & sharks in Hawaii and Belize. She hopes to go diving with humpback whales, whale sharks, and encounter octopus on a scuba diving trip one day. She has visited National parks across the country including the Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, and Bryce Canyon. She has hiked Angels Landing in Zion National Park and riden snowmobiles in Yellowstone.

“While those were all amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, I would have to say one of my most memorable things I have done was a chiropractic mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2015,” Dr. T says. “We went to two very poor areas which didn’t even have running water and lacked windows and doors on their homes. We treated the community with chiropractic care, and the improvement we saw in people’s posture, range of motion and pain in just 3-4 days was unbelievable. The patients were so incredibly grateful. On our last day of treating patients, many of them brought gifts, and some of them cried because they were so grateful and were able to do things they couldn’t do for so long.”

Dr. Brian Trautman, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Mason

Dr. Trautman joined The Joint Chiropractic in August 2022 when our Mason location first opened, but you can also find him at our Blue Ash location on weekends. He is a certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, and completed his undergraduate education in athletic training here in Cincinnati at Xavier University in 2015. He then went on to complete his Masters degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation in 2018 followed by his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in 2022 at Logan University in St. Louis MIssouri.

Born and raised in Corinth Mississippi, Dr. Trautman comes from a big family, and has four brothers and one sister. He also has 3 nieces/nephews with a 4th on the way. While he has no kids of his own he does have a 7 year old Australian Shepherd named Sinbad

He says the best thing about being a chiropractor is “getting to know my patients on a personal level and help them to become healthy holistically rather than with medications and surgery.”

Did You Know?

He runs most mornings before work and on lunch breaks you can often find him next door at Crunch Fitness here in Mason lifting weights. He has completed three marathons in 2018 in Jackson, TN; Memphis, TN; and our very own Flying Pig. While he is passionate about fitness & wellness he says he also enjoys going to local breweries and sporting events with friends, and is a major foodie. When it comes to sweets he says he “doesn't discriminate. I love chocolate cookies, any kind of ice cream, and dark chocolate is my favorite.”

He’s visited 43 of the 50 states and grew up going on road trips with his family for vacation, where we would camp in various national parks including Grand Tetons, Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, Hot Springs, and Padre Island National Seashore. He says “While I can’t say which was my favorite, padre island was the worst experience of them all.
