Baby Step Your Way to Better Health With These Steps

By Genevieve Cunningham

When it comes to making changes to our health, we often think that we have to take big, life-changing steps from the very beginning. Go big or go home, you know? But this approach is only setting us up for ultimate failure. If we could go big or go home, we would have already done it. We would have improved our health and our exercise habits and our overall well-being. But we haven't made those big steps because it's just too overwhelming. So what can we do instead? We start with baby steps and go from there! If you're interested in improving your health just a little at a time, take a look at these baby steps you can take today to improve your health now.

You Can Switch to Water

This is a really simple step to turn your health around, but a lot of people struggle with it. Why? Because we're used to drinking things that are filled with caffeine, sugar, and lots of flavor. In comparison, water seems boring. But our bodies need water more than almost anything else. We need it to stay hydrated and to help our bodies function properly. If you can slowly make the switch from juice, soda, coffee, or tea to plain old water, you'll definitely be taking a step in the right direction.

You Can Wake Up Slowly

Did you know that waking up slowly can completely change your mood for the day? This doesn't mean that you can hit the snooze over and over again. It means you should get up with the first alarm and take your time waking up, eating breakfast, and getting ready. If you wake up in a rush and spend your morning frantically trying to get out the door, the rest of the day is likely to feel high stress and chaotic as well. If you take your time and ease into the day, you're more likely to feel calm and stress-free as the day passes by.

You Can Manage Technology Use

In our modern world, we all love technology. We love how easy it makes the world. But too much time in front of a screen can lead to depression, anxiety, bodily aches and pains, insomnia, and more negative side effects. If you want your health to improve, limit your time on a device. Will it be easy? Probably not because we're all so addicted! But breaking the addiction will be so worth it when both physical and mental health improve.

If you really want to make changes that last, you have to start small. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Don't force yourself to do more than you can handle. Be slow and intentional. Use these simple tips to improve your health and make life a little better every day.
