Enjoy a Healthy Summer With the Chiropractor
By Rachel Carver
Summer temperatures usually lead to more outdoor time. Warm weather gives us a chance to get more active and have some fun after dealing with cooler weather.
However, whether your summer goal is to increase your physical activity or work on your tan in the pool, chiropractic care should remain an important part of managing your overall health. Here are some ways to make sure you have a summer full of fun without pain and discomfort.
Prioritize Chiropractic Care
Summer is a busy time. It can be easy to forget about appointments that seem minor until something is needed. For example, it is easier to forget the importance of regular chiropractic care until something hurts.
Summer road trips with too much sitting or long bike rides can lead to restricted spinal discs and pain in hips, knees, and other joints. The Joint Chiropractic's walk-in visits make it easier to get adjustments on your schedule. You do not have to worry about setting appointments before you know the time of all of your plans. The Joint team can also set a chiropractic routine that works for you to keep you active, out of pain, and enjoying your favorite activities all summer.
Move More
While increased activity can create the need for an alignment, physical activity is an important part of staying healthy. The CDC recommends at least 150 minutes of aerobic physical activity each week.
Warmer weather allows you to find an outdoor physical hobby you enjoy, such as cycling, swimming, or hiking. Stretch before and after exercising.
Hydrate
Summer temperatures can quickly leave you feeling dehydrated. Invest in a water bottle and keep it with you. Begin drinking water before your outdoor time so that you have plenty of fluids throughout the day. Watch for signs of dehydration, such as headaches, dizziness, and brain fog.
Follow a Balanced Diet
Summer is the perfect time to indulge in some ice cream. And completely eliminating foods you enjoy will make you more likely to overeat later. Find some fun seasonal fruits and vegetables you enjoy, such as watermelon. Chances are you will be able to try a new, healthy recipe.
When you do choose the sweet treat, try not to feel guilty about it. Make the choice, and then make a salad with some lean protein for your next meal.
