How to Improve Your Health in 2018

By Virginia Laird

Like many others across the nation you may have the desire to make your health the center of your focus in 2018. It doesn’t have to be a difficult thing to do, but will require some serious willpower. While you consider all the things you may need to do to make serious progress in improving your health, health and wellness experts have provided a list of several things you can do without needing to spend tons of money. This list includes:

  • Consider giving up soda
  • Try eating lean and green
  • Stop skipping meals

Consider Giving Up Soda

While it may not be a popular way to improve your health, giving up soda can offer a variety of benefits. Research suggests that the carbonation in a soda can wreak havoc on the kidneys and other organs of the body. Sodas are also full of empty calories and sugar. For those who choose diet soda, research provides plenty of reason to believe these are harmful when used long term. As always, water is the best choice of beverage as it is the healthiest and promotes proper function of the body’s organs.

Try Eating Lean and Green

If you are looking become a healthier you, check your diet. Health and wellness is said to be 90 percent what you eat. A healthy diet is one which consists of plenty of vegetables of every color, but especially green veggies. Another tip is eating lean. This means eating more grilled meats than fried, as well as choosing lean cuts over super fatty. This diet works best when you decide to cut back on sugar and other junk food.

Stop Skipping Meals

Although skipping meals has many thinking it is a great way to cut calories from their diet, it can actually cause many to consume far more than they need. It also can mess up the metabolism. If you are a meal skipper, you may have experienced extreme hunger as the next meal approaches. When this takes place, you may be tempted to eat everything in sight or choose junk food to settle your starving stomach. This is how you may end up eating far more than if you would have simply not skipped the meal.

Now you are ready to make a few healthy choices in the new year. If the challenge seems too difficult, choose just one step to begin at a time. You can do it! Good luck and make 2018 the best, healthiest year yet.
