Keep Your Kids Healthy This Year: 3 Things to Try

Staying healthy throughout the school year can require a great deal of planning. At times, it can seem overwhelming to stay on top of each aspect of your children's health. Still, doing all you can do to help encourage good health is what every parent desires. Health and wellness experts have made a few suggestions about how to help your children remain healthy throughout the year, including:

  • Pack a healthy lunch
  • Cut out junk beverages

Encourage Breakfast Daily

The body needs fuel each morning to start the day and have the ability to focus. Making certain to consume a healthy and well-balanced breakfast helps get the metabolism going as well. With that in mind, experts preach the importance of teaching your children about making breakfast a habit. If you are a parent of children who prefer to skip breakfast, it can be a battle to get them to eat. Rather than fighting this issue, there are plenty of alternative meal supplements that your children may enjoy, including breakfast bars and shakes. Through simple trial and error, you and your children may be able to find a solution to their breakfast struggle.

Pack a Healthy Lunch

Another way to help keep your children healthy is to pack a well-balanced lunch. While many children will have their lunchbox full of chips, candy, cookies, and juice, it is imperative that you make other choices for your kids. Packing the right lunch should include protein, veggies, and fruit.  Although your kids may be envious of the children with the junk-packed lunch, teaching them how to eat a healthy meal is the best thing you can do. Start this school year off right by making sure you pack a healthy lunch each day. 

Cut Out Junk Beverages

Juices and sodas are definitely the most popular choice of beverage. However, water is the best beverage when it comes to staying healthy. Water offers zero calories. It has no sugar, and can be used to help avoid overeating. Research says that drinking water with your meal helps you maintain proper hydration. It is said that everyone should strive to consume at least half of their body weight in ounces each day. Packing water in your children's lunch is a great way to help them meet their water consumption goal each day.
