3 Ways to Work Out Without a Gym or Equipment
By Genevieve Cunningham
Sometimes the hardest part about maintaining a good exercise routine is finding the time, money, and equipment to get it done. After a long day at work, we often don’t feel much like hitting the gym. We just want to go home. And the price of a gym? It’s just not feasible for everyone. It makes for a great excuse and allows many to get out of working out altogether. But as it turns out, this may not be a valid excuse for much longer. If you’re interested in getting fit without worrying over equipment or money, take a look at these gym-free, equipment-free ways to get it done.
Walk or Run
The best thing about walking or running is that it can be done just about anywhere. At home, around the neighborhood, at a park, at the local track, at the mall. The options are endless. All you really need is some shoes that support your feet and a willing attitude. Whether you choose to walk or run, you will work almost every muscle in the body, enhance lung function, burn calories, and move your entire being closer to better health.
Calisthenics
This slightly old-school approach to working out really works! Calisthenics includes things such as push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, lunges, squats, and vertical jumps. It basically means that you’ll use your own bodyweight to tone, tighten, and sculpt. Just write up a quick routine, follow through until the end, and you may be surprised at just how well your body responds and begins to change.
Yoga
Believe it or not, you don't need the cutest yoga pants, the most current mat, or a big nice studio to practice yoga. You only need yourself and some basic instruction. Buy a book or watch some YouTube videos to guide you through a yoga workout. Over time, as you learn the practice more deeply, you may not even need the instruction every time. The key to yoga is patience and perseverance, so begin anytime and anywhere, and watch the benefits unfold in your life.
If you really want to be fit, excuses won’t hold you back. Use these workouts to change your body for the better and get closer to your goals. No equipment, no gym, no money required. Just some hard work, dedication, and a desire to make your health and life better than ever before.
