I was fortunate enough to grow up in a household that believed in chiropractic medicine. I had my first experience with a chiropractor when I was 16 after a car accident. After only a couple of appointments my neck, back, and leg pain were gone. I have been a believer in chiropractic ever since.
I grew up playing on the lake outside of Atlanta, and beaches in SC, and eventually became a competitive swimmer. After high school, I knew I wanted to help others stay physically fit enough to live life to the fullest. I attended Winthrop University and majored in Physical Education with a focus on fitness for life. I also pursued a career in aquatics, where I became a CPR instructor. I fell in love with medicine and wanted to learn more. I then went back to school to study Biology at UNC Wilmington to better prepare myself for a career in medicine. While attending UNCW I worked for Wrightsville Beach as an ocean rescue lifeguard where I worked closely with the fire department and Coast Guard as an EMT. I realized I wanted to be able to help others before they were in emergency situations and I found chiropractic an ideal fit. I moved to Portland, OR and attended the University of Western States chiropractic program where I received my doctorate.
I have further developed my clinical and adjusting skills through varied rotations in school, and a rotation at the VA hospital in SD. My love to help others in need, pushed me to go on 3 mission trips in Central America to bring chiropractic medicine to under served areas in El Salvador and Mexico. I believe in a whole-body approach and have advanced my training by attending seminars in adjusting, Motion Palpation, Activator technique, and Rock tape.
In my spare time I enjoy being outside as much as possible, whether it’s hiking, camping, mountain biking, surfing, diving, skiing, snowboarding or just relaxing with my loved ones and friends.
Dr. Jerome Craig was born and raised in South Africa and has lived in the US since 1987. While his undergrad at Humboldt State University was in studio arts he has spent most of his academic and professional life studying various aspects of human health – as a personal trainer and massage therapist, a chiropractor and college instructor of Pathology and Anatomy and Physiology, and more recently as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner.
His aim is to not just treat but to educate his patients so that being under his care feels like a partnership because indeed it is. His goal is to treat the whole person, not just their symptoms, and teach them to become stewards of their own health and wellness.
His time away from The Joint is spent in private practice helping patients with digestive dysfunction and other chronic health challenges and conducting online courses. He is also a busy husband and father to two bright and energetic kids who enjoy travel, hiking, bike riding, and playing sports.
My name is Dr. Greg Fillmore. I was born in Tucson, Arizona and moved through many states before planting roots in 2001 in Lake Oswego, a suburb just south of Portland Oregon. Growing up I was always a very active kid participating in as many sports as I could. As expected with active kids I had my fair share of bumps and bruises and was always fascinated by the body's ability to heal and recover after these injuries.
As a child of two physicians medicine and health were always discussions, we had around the dinner table. This was the start of my passion and fascination with the human body and what it was capable of. This interest would lay dormant for a time while I was figuring out what life had in store for me. While attending Portland Community College I started taking human anatomy courses and this sparked my interest again. After 2 years at Portland Community College I transferred to Southern Oregon University in beautiful Ashland, Oregon to start my undergraduate degree in pre physical therapy.
My change over to become a chiropractor was not something that I saw in the cards when I left for Ashland, but it has been one of the best decisions of my life. Towards the end of my undergraduate career I was feeling very disheartened by the lack of joy and excitement that I was getting out of Physical Therapy and was looking for a change. Luckily, I knew someone who was attending Chiropractic school in Portland and I thought I would check it out. Before this I had zero experience with chiropractors. After shadowing a couple of appointments, I knew that this was the career for me. The hands-on approach as well as the ability to offer immediate help to someone was very appealing to me. Shortly after shadowing I applied and started studying at the University of Western States and the rest is history.
When I am not treating patients, you can find me outside with my wife Tiffany in the garden, playing with our chocolate lab, or playing sports competitively where I have had the honor of representing my city and country. As an active family we understand that mobility is crucial. My goal for all my patients is to ensure they are getting the care they need to get up and moving again enjoying the pacific wonderland we call home.
