Spring Clean Your Way Into Better Mental Health

By Brandi Goodman

Spring is here and it's time to take advantage. Many people use this season to purge the old, unwanted junk from their homes and spring into a better mindset. Cleaning in the springtime can really help you to improve your mental health.

Improved Focus

Your mental clarity may be clouded if your house is cluttered. When you're surrounded by junk, it's easy to think about how much you have to do and what you need to get done first. When you don't have the time for it, however, it can really take your attention away from other tasks. If you want to improve your focus and clear your mind, then you need to take on the project now. Get it done and over with so you can put your attention to the things that matter most.

Ditching the Dust

Perhaps you've found yourself feeling down because you've been under the weather. Maybe you're constantly sneezing, coughing, feeling ill, getting headaches, or just otherwise not feeling like yourself. This can take a toll on your mental health. Ditch the dust and you may find yourself feeling better. Dust can cause a lot of problems with your health. Dust off all the junk and your regular surfaces so you can be free of it.

The Stress of the To-Dos

Your to-do list might be a mile long. You have to dust, de-clutter, organize, and so much more. This can make it difficult to even begin the process because you have so much to accomplish that it just stresses you out. You need to stop worrying so much about ticking items off your to-do list and just start somewhere. Pick one room and get to work on cleaning it. The stress will start to fall off your shoulders.

Better Sleep

You might find it difficult to drift off at night knowing you have so much cleaning to accomplish. Getting started on even just one room or one project can help to ease your mind a lot. This can make it so it's easier for you to get better sleep. A better night's rest can leave you energized and motivated to take on more the next day.

Spring clean your way into better mental health. It can feel good knowing you have all the clutter cleared from your life. It gives you a feeling of a fresh slate going forward. Take this time to get all your junk cleaned from both your home and your vehicle and you may feel relief in your mind as well with that stress off your shoulders.
