Friendly Exercises for the Body
By Donna Stark
By now, you should know that daily exercise is vital for optimal health and wellness. It can reduce the risk of serious health conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes, and boost your body's natural immunity and energy levels. On top of that, it's a chiropractor's dream because it helps promote healthy joints and keeps the body functioning as it was designed. Of course, pushing your body past its limits and exercising too intensely can cause its fair share of problems too. That's why you may want to consider engaging in low-impact workouts the times your body needs a rest or if regular exercise is new to you. Take a look at a few of them below.
Walking
There are too many benefits to count where walking is concerned, but let's review a couple of the most obvious. You don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment, you can set your own pace, you can walk for as long as you want, and you can easily fit it into your day whenever you have a few extra minutes to kill. The only thing you will definitely want before you start is a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Walking can help you maintain a healthy weight, improve heart health, and reduce both physical and mental stress in the body.
Cycling
There is something special about riding a bicycle that feels so free and invigorating! In fact, you may end up enjoying it so much that you forget you are giving your body an amazing workout. Whether you choose to ride your bike in the early hours of the morning, to work or school, or in the cool evening breeze, you can't go wrong with this type of exercise. Just be sure you are visible to everyone else on the road and wear a helmet!
Swimming
Do you remember swimming for hours and hours when you were a kid? Well, you may not have that same amount of time now that you are an adult, but the time you do spend in the water will do your body a ton of good! Swimming is an incredible all-over body workout and if you are coming back from an injury, you may want to jump in because the buoyancy of the water makes it extremely joint-friendly.
Friendly Exercises
Sometimes we need to take it easy with our bodies, but that doesn't mean you should avoid your daily exercises. Stay on the path to good health by trying some low-impact workouts like the ones listed above. Your body will certainly thank you for it!
