If you struggle with staying hydrated because of a busy schedule, below are some ways you can be focus on when you may need to up your hydration.

Do Not Wait to Be Thirsty

A common misconception is you should start drinking water once you are feeling thirsty. The reality is once you are thirsty you may already be dehydrated. To avoid this, try to set a schedule of times that you will drink at least a cup of water. Some options for these times include morning while you are getting ready for work, lunchtime, and before you eat dinner.

Hunger

When you are dehydrated, this can be masked as hunger. If you are feeling hungry, try drinking a cup or two of water before eating. This not only helps to stay hydrated but can also help you eat less and maintain a healthy weight.

Alternatives to Water

Remember that while water is important, it can be boring to drink water consistently throughout the day. There are some healthy alternatives that can bring hydration as well as some extra vitamins. Some healthy water alternatives may include:

  • Fruit-infused water
  • Coconut water
  • Sparkling mineral water

Eat Your Water

Know that you do not have to drink your water for you to stay hydrated. Being creative with how you hydrate yourself, will help keep you on track.

Some fruits you can eat for hydration include watermelon, cucumbers and strawberries. Other foods include smoothies or soups, just be aware of how much sodium is added to your soups.

Staying hydrated is crucial to optimal health. Be sure to make sure you are getting enough to drink.
