Tips for Quick and Safe Housecleaning

It doesn't matter if we do a little bit each day or spend hours doing it over the weekend, we all have to take time out of our schedules to clean. From the kitchen to the bathrooms to the places where we lay our heads, there isn't a room to ignore if you want to do a job well done. But just because each room needs to be taken care of, it doesn't mean you can't clean as fast as possible. So, go ahead and make your home shine ... but get it done quickly so you can get back to doing the things you really enjoy!

Tips for a Quick and Thorough Cleaning

There are plenty of housecleaning shortcuts that you can use which will get your home looking neat and tidy in as little time as possible. Take a look at a few of them here.

  • Use a laundry basket - Laundry baskets aren't just for laundry. You can use yours as an extra tool when cleaning from room to room. Simply fill the basket with everything that is out of place in your home and carry the items to their correct spots as you go from room to room. You can also fill the basket if you are in a rush to clean, put it to the side (or hide it in the closet if you have guests coming over), and finish the job later. 
  • Group your tasks - If certain tasks require special cleaning tools, be sure to do them at the same time! There is no point in taking the broom, vacuum, or any other cleaning tools out to use and then putting them away to only go into the next room and get them all out again.
  • End with the floor - It's always wise to start from the top and work your way down when cleaning. So, if you have vacuuming to do, make sure you dust and wipe down your counters before you do so. Also, don't forget the blinds and ceiling fans! You'd be surprised with what floats down to the floor as you are cleaning them.

Keeping your home clean and clutter-free is a great way to reduce the risk of illness and injury, but there is one very important thing to keep in mind as you are doing so ... always be mindful of how you hold and carry your body while cleaning! You certainly don't want to hurt yourself by trying to rush through the motions. A clean house is important, but not as much as your overall health and wellness!
