Snack Foods That Make You Feel Full

By Genevieve Cunningham

One of the hardest parts about eating a healthy diet is to cut out the snacking. If you’re used to eating all day, you may feel as though you’re starving! And this can lead to grabbing the first thing you see … which likely isn’t the healthiest thing on the table. So how can you make the successful switch from eating all day to eating on a schedule? It’s all about your food choices. Take a look at these great snack foods that will keep you feeling full so that you can limit your caloric intake and eat a little healthier every day.

Watermelon

This delicious red fruit will fill you up so fast. Why? Because it is so full of water! Watermelon is, rightfully so, over 90 percent water. When you eat it, you may find that you have to take multiple trips to the bathroom. But you’ll also find that your belly feels so full, it has the sensation of being about to pop. When you’re trying to cut back on how much you eat, use watermelon as a snack, and you won’t be hungry for hours after.

Apples

Apples are actually a double whammy when it comes to a healthy snack. They are also quite high in water content (just like watermelon), but they also contain high amounts of fiber. Fiber takes longer to digest, so eating something with lots of fiber quite literally keeps you feeling full. One of the great things about this snack is that there is zero prep. Just take a raw apple with you, rinse it, and bite in.

Eggs

Just like fiber, it takes a little longer for the body to digest protein. This means that eating a high protein snack, such as eggs, keeps the hunger at bay. Eggs may seem like an odd choice for a snack, but you don’t have to carry around your frying pan. Just boil an egg, throw it in a container, and you have a protein filled snack whenever you need it.

If you can ever curb the snacking, you’ll be halfway to a healthier diet. Use these foods as healthy, belly filling snacks to get you moving in the right direction. With a full belly and nutrient packed snacks, your hunger will subside and the positive effects of healthy eating will be yours for the taking.
