Hate Water? Try These Instead!
By Genevieve Cunningham
Even though everyone knows that it's healthy and necessary, a lot of people just don't like water. It's boring, flavorless, and dull. It's also absolutely essential for proper hydration and the best health. While your best option is to learn to like water, there may be some ways to keep your body hydrated in the meantime. If you haven't been able to make the switch to pure H2O just yet, take a look at these alternatives that can help you stay healthy.
Flavored Water
Flavored water is just like drinking regular water … except with flavor. You can buy water pre-flavored -- think Sobe water or Life water -- or you can buy liquid drops or powder to add to a glass or bottle of water. This gives you the hydration and the flavor all in one. Though many find the flavor weaker than juice or soda, it's one of the easiest ways to drink more water while still keeping the taste buds happy.
Coconut Water
Coconut water is an excellent alternative to water. It's hydrating and also contains multiple essential nutrients. Vitamins C and E, as well as magnesium and calcium are a part of this sweet drink. The flavor is unique, but even those who are initially resistant often eventually find it palatable. So if you're not a fan immediately, it might be worth it to give it some time. Give this option a try if you need something with big healthy benefits, but that doesn't give off a vibe that is too similar to water.
Sparkling Water
Some people actually enjoy the carbonation that comes with soda. They like the bubbles and the slight fizzy feeling in their mouths. They just enjoy the little bit of extra sensation that comes with carbonation. If this is you, a good transitional drink is sparkling water. You can get it flavored or not, but either option gives you the bubbly sensation to satisfy your craving.
Water is important … probably even more important than most people realize. We need it for quite literally every function in the body. We need it for our bodies, our minds, and our moods. We can't live without it! Once you get out of the habit of drinking water, it can be hard to get back in it. Use these drinks to help you slowly transition back to more water and better health this year.
