You Are In A Great Position to Enjoy the Fall
By Tom Herrin
There may be no place like Austin anytime, but the fall of the year certainly has its share of things to offer. For people who are into improving their health, they may have hit the jackpot by living in this area. The hill country is a wonderful place to spend time anytime and when those fall colors can be added in, the result can be a real hit.
Go Ahead and Get Out That Leaf Rake
There is a pretty good chore in store for anyone when it comes to keeping up with leaves. No matter what they try to do, people can rarely manage to maintain a pace that prevents those leaves from seeming to be overwhelming. There are really no surprises because they can count on more being added each and every day. The good part is that this can be turned into productive exercise. Raking leaves can burn up to 400 calories per hour, and there is a fair chance that people will be able to spend close to an hour each day raking.
Play an Outdoor Game
There are a number of activities that fit nicely into anyone’s schedule in the fall. Whether it is tennis, volleyball, golf, basketball, or touch football, they all may be played with success in the fresh feel of the season. People are normally able to do more with less effort this time of the year because the temperatures seem so accommodating. When I was in college, I played touch football almost every afternoon with some friends. Even though it was a very casual game with little running, I soon found myself in much better condition. I made a few adjustments to my diet and was able to lose 35 pounds in only a few months.
Do a Little Pumpkin Shopping
If you haven’t been to a pumpkin patch, you may be missing out on a unique experience. Strolling around and searching for that right one can be a challenge. With a little thumping and lifting, there will even be some exercise. Whether it used for a decoration or pumpkin pie, it can put you in the right mood. While you are at it, go ahead and try a new fall recipe. It could be a part of a really healthy meal. It is a great time to enjoy the season as you create a healthier lifestyle.
