Can Chiropractic Care Help My Condition?

By Randi Morse

It still astounds me that even though we live in a world where we have a computer at hand any time we need one, allowing us to look up the answer to just about any problem, there are still many things that people don't know. Take, for example, chiropractic care. Those who have never seen a chiropractor often think that chiropractic care is a gimmick, that it only works because your brain thinks it works. It's a psychology trick known as placebo effect. This is completely untrue. Chiropractic care has been around for decades and has been proven to help a wide array of health situations and conditions. Could chiropractic care benefit you?

Headaches

Headaches are one of the most frustrating health conditions to deal with, mainly because they are so painful that they can prevent you from accomplishing your daily tasks. There have been more than 200 peer reviewed articles that have looked at the successes chiropractors have had with easing the symptoms of headaches. Even people who suffer from migraines are often able to find relief thanks to chiropractic care.

Blood Pressure

You may not believe this is possible, but a study that was published in the Human Journal of Hypertension explains that one "upper cervical chiropractic adjustment" has as much effect on a person's blood pressure as taking two different blood pressure lowering medications. Not only did the adjustment work as well as the drugs, it lasted longer, allowing the subjects to experience lower blood pressure for at least six months. The theory is that regular chiropractic care can help the body attain homeostasis, allowing everything to work as it is supposed to.

Neurological Conditions

We're just now learning how much chiropractic care can help with neurological conditions. Research is showing that both blood flow and cerebral spinal fluid are increased thanks to chiropractic care. People dealing with multiple sclerosis often deal with a condition known as brain plaque, which is a condition during which specific proteins adhere themselves to the gray area of the brain. Chiropractic care is currently being studied to see how effectively it can help reduce brain plaque.

Chiropractic care isn't just for helping to remove spinal restrictions, although it's amazing for that. It can be extremely helpful for a wide array of conditions. At The Joint Chiropractic, our chiropractors are available to answer any questions that you may have. They will be able to examine your situation and tell you if chiropractic care can help.
