Your Questions Answered : Can I Take My Child to the Chiropractor?
Research shows that chiropractic care is safe and extremely beneficial to children – even infants! To be safe, it is recommended to visit a different chiropractor for your children than you would for yourself, one who does specialize in this type of practice.
Your child needs chiropractic care for the same reason you do; the bones and muscles become stressed, even at such a young age. Let’s take this further for a moment. Think about when your child is going through a growth spurt, how can you be sure that their bones and muscles are developing properly? It is vital for children to have proper motion in order to develop appropriately. Hence: chiropractic care.
The care that a child would receive from a chiropractor greatly varies from that of an adult. This is why it is important to find a family chiropractor, because each child is unique and needs different care throughout their ever-changing stages. However, if you begin noticing that your child is slouching often or is experiencing balance issues, it would be a good idea to have them see a child chiropractor!
There are multiple benefits to bringing your child to be checked out by a chiropractor, even if they are healthy. Chiropractic care can not only help keep your child healthy and well, but it can also help prevent potential illnesses. Although these are not the only reasons to find a good chiropractor for your child, we’ve listed a couple others out for you in case you’re not convinced yet:
- Helps with asthma or other breathing difficulties
- Aids sleep problems and promotes better, healthier sleep
- Helps with digestive issues
- Aids allergy problems
- Corrects bad posture
- Helps with bed wetting and constipation
There are many chiropractors who specialize in these areas for children, but also others who even specialize with children who are autistic or ADHD. They believe that having your child regularly checked by a chiropractor can drastically improve their over-all well-being and encourage health throughout the rest of their lives. Just as you would with yourself, do not give up because you encounter a less-than-okay experience with one child chiropractor. It is not the practice that you are experiencing problems with, it’s the practitioner; try someone new, maybe they will be a better fit for you and your family!
