Should You Try CrossFit?
By Genevieve Cunningham
Most people have heard of the extreme workout program known as CrossFit. For those on the outside, this workout program looks incredibly difficult. It’s for the super fit and for those looking to be considered super athletic, right? While it’s certainly targeted toward those who want to significantly change their body and life, anyone can give this program a try. But should you? Take a look at these reasons why CrossFit may be just the program to change your life for the better and get in the best shape of your life.
It’s a Cross Training Program
CrossFit is made for the athlete who likes diversity. In a session, you might lift weights, run, do calisthenics, complete an obstacle course … the variety is what so many love about the program. Just know before you go that this routine is cross training. It’ll change often, challenge the muscles, and will probably burn and make you sweat like you’ve never felt before.
You’ll Absolutely Lift Weights
Weights are absolutely a part of CrossFit. While a trainer won’t force you to do anything that you’re not comfortable with, they’ll encourage you heavily to lift and lift heavy. Why? Because lifting is one of the most effective ways to change the body. They help burn more fat and build stronger muscles. Before you step foot in the gym, be prepared to lift plenty of weights and be sore for days. As long as you’re OK with this, the CrossFit life might be for you.
You’ll Probably Get Fit
Have you ever seen anyone who is heavily into CrossFit? There’s a high possibility that this person is incredibly fit. The bottom line is that CrossFit works for the vast majority. It burns massive calories, builds muscle, and gets you in incredible shape. You’ll have to put out the effort, but if you give it your all and stick with the program, you can almost bet money that your body will be in better condition than it was before you gave this tough routine a try.
CrossFit may not be for everyone, but there’s no doubt that it works. If you’ve considered giving it a try, go for it. If you’re nervous, just talk to your doctor and make sure to get the green light. CrossFit is an excellent way to get fit. If you’re able, give it a try and watch your body transform in front of your very eyes.
