Making Simple Choices Could Change Your Life
Every day we make a bundle of choices, to get up early or sleep in, to go to the gym or skip a run, to work a few extra hours, or leave early. These are regular choices. But the big choices are different. They are the ones we make with our minds and our hearts, and if we carry them out they often have amazing results. Sometimes they can bring new solutions, create new options, and create real satisfaction.
Pick choices that fit you
Your list of choices will be different from others. But if they are good ones for you then they will be easier to follow.
Choose to say no
If you just automatically say yes when people ask you to show up for an event even though you are already overloaded, you may have fallen into the yes trap. It is easy to please people, but the ensuing schedule problems and tiredness may not be worth it. Learn to pick and choose and say no when you need to. You can always say yes later when it really works for you.
Choose to reach out to more people
Every day we see people on the street who need help, and we hear of charitable groups that are running out of funds. Sometimes it seems like too much, but picking a few to help and following through is a great way to show your kids how life should work. It also brings home a feeling of thankfulness for what we have and sometimes forget to appreciate.
Choose to weigh in with your opinion
Sometimes it does not seem worth the effort, but usually it really is. Show up at the meetings you are interested in and find out what’s happening where you live. Then you can jump in where you can make a difference.
Choose to take a brand new path
We all get caught in grooves and sometimes they are pretty comfortable and worth preserving. But once in awhile it is good to shake things up and serve new foods, shop new places, take new courses, or try new methods. Whatever you feel need changing in your life probably does. So do the research and make your move.
