4 Ways to Exercise That Are Totally Stress-Free

By Genevieve Cunningham

Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body. It's no secret that every healthy living plan involves some sort of movement or exercise. For some people, this is the easiest part of a healthy lifestyle. Working out feels good for them. But for others, working out is stressful. They don't like the sweat or the burn or the stress that comes with trying to get it done. And if your workout is too stressful, it may be negating many of the benefits. So what should you do? If you need to exercise without any stress involved, take a look at these workouts that can get you fit without the worry.

Walk

Walking is more beneficial than most people think. Because it's slow and easy on the body, they assume it's not very powerful. But walking is actually a great way to get in shape. It burns calories and works the muscles and improves overall health. If you want a stress-free way to exercise, put on some walking shoes, choose a path, and get moving.

Yoga

The entire point of yoga is to lower stress. There are other purposes as well -- to gain strength and loosen muscles and feel more confident. But lowering stress is a huge component. Yoga teaches you how to breathe and stay in the moment and find the calm moments. And these are all great ways to lower stress. Not only is it low-stress in and of itself, but it also reduces stress in the process. It's a win all the way around.

Swim

There's something about water that is calming. And the water is also easy on your joints and muscles. If you want a low-stress exercise option, find a pool. The buoyancy will literally take the stress off of your body and the repetitive motions will take the stress off of your mind. It's low-stress in almost every aspect which makes it a great choice.

Cycle

One of the best things about riding a bike is that it's fun. And anything that's fun tends to be lower stress. The act of cycling is low stress as well. Unless you have knee problems, it's relatively easy on the body. Buy a good bike, find a trail that suits your needs and readiness, and cycle for the fun of it. The calorie burn and stronger muscles will come along over time.

Working out should make you feel good. It should be challenging and should stress the body physically, but it shouldn't make you feel mentally strained or overwhelmed. Use these workouts to get fit without the stress, and it might feel a lot easier to stay healthy and strong into the future.
