Try a Challenging Family Sport for Better Health

When people embrace activities together as a family, it can build a greater sense of unity and also do some pretty good things for the health of each member of that family. For those who are separated by a little distance from family, doing things as a group of friends can provide a joint focus that may serve as a motivator. A little adventuring spirit may open some new doors. A game that may meet the need of building health is field hockey. It is more fun than one may realize and not as highly intense as one may fear.
It Help Build Muscle Strength
Since there a considerable amount of legwork in the the game, those leg muscles will get in quite a bit of exercise. When people participate in such an activity in which they are required to walk, jog, or run while pushing off on the stick with their hands and arms, they can work on building core muscles. Using the entire body is a good way to strengthen those muscles that may be otherwise seldom used.
It May Improve Breathing
When people are involved in anything that requires moving so much while playing, good blood flow is a natural. When people are out of breath, it generally means that they are unable to supply enough oxygen to the cells to perform the work for the needed activity. Heavy breathing is the way the body attempts to recover its ability to move and replace this oxygen. During respiration, waste material from the cells is removed while oxygen in resupplied. Being a little out of breath will happen as the system becomes more efficient. Doing something enjoyable is an easier way to build this up.
It May Build Mental Strength
Exercise is a great way to improve overall mental ability and function. As you exercise, many times the mind becomes clearer. Chemicals are released that help to overcome depression. It is an overall better way to balance the body and mind. Reducing stress and depression will always be a great way to improve health. Having fun while building health is a much better motivator. When you can involve the entire family or social group while doing so, everybody wins. Field Hockey is also one of those games that you can take at a slow pace to start with and ramp up as you feel you are up to it. If you are up to a little challenge, give it a try. You may be surprised at how much your family members or friends enjoy it.
