The Best Cardio Workouts For Chiropractic Patients

If you have already made the wise decision to see a doctor of chiropractic for improved back and joint health, you may also want to ask him or her about things you can do outside of your weekly or monthly sessions in order to further boost the benefits to your health that chiropractic care can provide. This is especially crucial if you are undergoing chiropractic treatments due to pain or stiffness that was caused by an injury, accident, or some other type of strain to your back or joints.

Many doctors of chiropractic end up recommending light cardio exercise to their patients, regardless of what health issues and conditions they are currently dealing with and getting treatment for. This is because low-impact cardio workouts are a great way to loosen the joints and strengthen the body overall, while preventing too much stress and strain from causing any more pain or discomfort to the joints. As I learned from reading a helpful post that was written up by the Arthritis Foundation, here are some of the best low-impact cardio workouts to try in between sessions of chiropractic care and treatment.

The ideal goal that many chiropractic patients are encouraged to reach for, is twenty to thirty minutes of cardio exercise three or four days out of each and every week. If you are recovering from back or joint pain, stick to these low-impact exercises so you won't further strain your muscles and joints. In time, these workouts will more than likely help your joints loosen up while helping you to lose weight, which will also improve your joint health.

It is a good idea to start off any exercise routine with some simple stretches or other warm ups. Focus on stretching your hamstrings or your back; you can even take a short walk just to get your body warmed up. Once you are ready to begin your cardio workout, you have a few options. You can turn to the elliptical machine, which you can adjust to a speed and resistance that works for you. Many chiropractic patients also find water therapy to be extremely helpful, since the water reduces the amount of stress on the back yet also conditions the muscles of the body. If you don't have access to an elliptical or a pool, you can still go for daily walks, which will be easy on the back and joints but still help you get the exercise you need.
