Ready to Get Your Glow Going? Lace Up Your Sneakers

By Sandy Schroeder

If you exercise regularly you already know one of the delicious byproducts is an unmistakable glow. Nothing puts a spring in the step, or a gleam in the eye faster, than a regular fitness routine.

Scientists say there are many subtle effects of exercise that are continuing to emerge. This vibrancy comes from a mix of biochemical and physiological events that happen because exercise impacts every cell in the body, according to Experience Life.

I can always tell the difference when I start a new exercise routine. I sleep better, worry less and just seem to laugh more. Each individual is different, but here are some of the things that may happen when you lace up your sneakers.

Anxiety and stress fade – We all know what worry can do to our day. Sleep refuses to come and smiles fade as our brain clings to worry and becomes muddled in the process. A brisk walk or a regular run every morning can break the spell, helping you think more clearly and smile more often as life assumes a more positive perspective.

The skin shines – According to dermatologists, when you work up a sweat you create a quick facial as the pores open and dirt and oil gets pulled up. Later after you shower all of that debris is swept away. At the same time, exercise delivers nutrients that repair sun and toxin damage, and stimulate the skin’s collagen to reduce wrinkles.

Confidence breaks out – It’s hard not to be positive when fitness routines kick in and you just feel better about everything. Self-confidence and self-worth are often the first things that show up when someone gets into a positive routine. For me, guilt lifts and life just feels better right away.

The mood-maker arrives – One writer from Texas said a bike ride absolutely cures her day. She said, “I can leave work with a load of worry, hop on my bike and feel better in a few minutes. Soon I am grinning as I pedal along the path and other bikers are smiling back. We are all like kids out of school, free at last!”

The immune system strengthens – Exercise inspires the body to produce more white blood cells that eliminate bacteria and viruses. Tiredness is replaced with energy as the body heals faster and responds quicker. Exercise revs up the immune system, often chasing away colds and sore throats.

However exercise works for you in big or little perks, it’s hard to beat that overall healthy glow that keeps us coming back for more.
