Why Chiropractic is Important
By Sara Butler
There are a lot of different ways to think about chiropractic. Some are very complex concepts with deep explanations while others are as simple as getting your back popped (which is oversimplified!). But chiropractic doesn’t have to be so difficult to define to understand why it’s important in your life. In fact, when you break it down, it’s a pretty simple concept to understand which makes its place in your life even easier to grasp!
Your Body is Sharp
Your body is really smart. It wants to be balanced in everything it does and seeks a way to make that happen. The intelligence your body possesses is innate and it helps to attack disease, restore your body when you’re injured or sick, and sustain good health. You could say that the cells in your body are like individual instruments that make up an entire orchestra, with your central nervous system like the conductor that brings them all together to work in harmony.
Your Nervous System
Your central nervous system is the master of all you do. It controls every single function of your body and regulates each body system. But in order to do its job correctly, it must be able to function at its very best. This is where chiropractic care is key. It helps to remove the barriers that keep your central nervous system from functioning optimally and helps to maintain the balance your body seeks.
Going back to the orchestra analogy, you can think of your chiropractor as your central nervous system’s assistant conductor, there to support the nervous system by keeping the spine and its surrounding muscles and tissues healthy. When you accomplish this, then it enhances your body’s innate intelligence, restoring proper function and helping you to achieve good health.
Chiropractic care helps to make sure the central nervous system isn’t out of tune, helping to keep you healthy and strong in the process. It doesn’t use drugs or surgery to support a healthy body, it simply helps your central nervous system to do its job to the best of its ability. Your body can heal itself and bring back its own balance – with the help of your chiropractor.
